"Between note bandi and net bandi, we all grew up."

Sleeping in sounds of police sirens and waking up to the same is the new lullaby to my ears.

Countries, offices, educational institutions and homes, politics exist everywhere!! Getting straight to the point, being apolitical is not an option anymore. If you're still not scared or concerned, wait till they cut off your internet. When you can't even find out what is happening to the rest of them and they can't know what's being done to you.

We are citizens of the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world, can one afford to be apolitical in this scenario?

When I started this blog, I wanted it to be about anything but politics. Not because I am not fond of our fabricated politics and discussions around it, I thought of not letting it overpower my blog, because I knew it will.

However, now is the scenario where we need to voice up. To all those apolitical people who live in their bubbles and only see the happenings in the country under the glass of inconvenience caused, they need to understand the cause behind it before cribbing that their "routine" is being affected. Being apolitical is not a privilege as we are constantly living the political implication of our identity as citizens of India. Choosing to be politically, socially or environmentally inactive is equally if not more harmful than the real crime. Shunning away from this responsibility is like shunning away from being a responsible citizen who is equally responsible for shaping the nation, society, and planet; and our inactiveness clearly defines us as coward citizens who are witnessing every fabric of democracy falling apart.

When people with intellect and morals step away, people without them step in. Keeping comfort and your life as supremely important, telling ourselves that we are yet another common layperson in 1.3 billion people, we give up our say in media, in politics of our country where the constitution is for its people, and most importantly in the intelligentsia. Not strategizing or working hard enough to change the course is an irresponsible behavior we exhibit. Our inability to realize our own potential, to voice up, to imagine for a better system is a big betrayal of our responsibility as a sound citizen.

Not being aware or educated enough is a privilege some enjoy. We can allude this to the social and economic privilege they enjoy that makes them believe “humara kya lena dena, hum nhi toh koi aur sahi.” Here, not caring enough to change the views and behaviors is a moral corruption in our soul.
